Can we really afford to ban Chinese Smartphones?

Before thinking that, let's talk about some points.

Chinese Phones in India.

There are lots of things going on around the Chinese products and phones. And I think it’s a high time for every Indian to think about it. After the recent things we saw on India-China border, which is completely unacceptable from every Indian perspective.

In this blog I am making my point about Chinese smartphone market in India. Why most Indian choose Chinese smartphones and can we have better alternatives for that.

We will also discuss as an Indian what we can do and not support growing Chinese smartphone companies.

Chinese smartphone market in India.

One Plus, Xiaomi, Real Me, Oppo, Vivo you name it, 90% of the Indians are using Chinese smartphones.

And You know why.?

Because we think about the price first, and that should be the priority for every Indian. By using this cost term Chinese have captured our 90% of the smartphone market. This seems huge we never thought that china can earn this much from Indian people. I have explained this in the later part of my blog why we end up buying Chinese smartphone.

Talking more about the Chinese smartphone this market has grown rapidly in India. From our small headphones to flagship smartphone we are widely using these Chinese things in day to day life. Another day I was reading one blog and they have estimated Chinese smartphones earning from an Indian market is around 500000 Core Rupees every year, That’s insane.

Why Most Indians are using Chinese smartphones.

Let’s understand here why we Indians are more fascinated towards the Chinese product. As we all knew that we Indians think about pocket first and then the product we are buying. This is scenario in every Indian middle-class family. China took an advantage of this term and launch their phones in the India that will suit an average Indian person budget.

If we see recently MI has made a record of selling 100 million phones, that’s not an easy number for any smartphone company but yes, we Indian made them achieve this number. Google says 5 out of 4 top smartphones company in India is Chinese.

Chinese manufacturer has lunched their maximum smartphones in the mid-range series (7000Rs to 15000Rs) reason we all knew. If we talk about other companies like Samsung and LG etc., they have their phones with same hardware and software, but we need to pay extra 50% for that phone. Let me explain here why? Suppose if I am buying a new Redmi Note 9 Pro and comparing it with Samsung Galaxy M31 then we observe that the specification is almost similar in these two product excepting couple of features but the price point of Samsung is 50% more than the Redmi. In this case we go with the lesser price point phone.

Can we replace Chinese phones?

We have heard about the Chinese smartphones and why we use them. Now let’s figure out if we can replace them from our lives.

If you ask me I would say for now we cant but if we decide that then in an year we definitely can refuse to use the Chinese phones and force other company (other than Chinese) to make the product that are cost effective to us with same specifications.

People who are using other phones Like Asus, LG, iPhone has around 95% of the part imported from China. These companies are not Chinese, but they use their parts which are manufactured in china.

Long story short we somewhere or other will surly use the Chinese product or parts. Its not a one-day thing we need to give up or may be replace them with better alternatives availed in the market, but we can do that in one year for sure. In this scenario Samsung now has a real chance to grow and understand the average Indian person pocket and act accordingly.

Speaking about the Indian smartphone company like LAVA and Micromax we saw them going down in current smartphone market. Also, the big companies like Reliance, Aditya Birla group should think about giving a chance for manufacturing the smartphones which are made by India, that will be the great thing to us Indians

Better alternatives?

We spoke about the Samsung before that we have alternatives, but the price margin is around 50% more in compare to Chinese brand. If Indian could have afforded than, they will do but according to current situation and market most of us can’t.

Also, if we have the capacity in other words extra budget to do so I think we should do it. We can replace our China made phones to something better which is not have “made in china” tag. Here are some smartphone options which are not manufactured in China although they have few or more Chinese part in them, but still better than using China made phones.

Apple Inc. – is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Cupertino, California, that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. There are many more options available in Indian market.

What we can do from our side.

In recent time, I also heard about some data privacy issues with the China made smartphones. Most of the data we are using on our phone is not secure with these smartphones. The software we use for scanning, transferring, copying etc. is not safe with it. We should replace these software’s with more trusted sources available.I received one image related to the smartphones buying guide, if you don’t want to buy Chines smartphone. This will be helpful.

Before a day Indian Intelligence agency has confronted Government of India to discontinue some Chinese apps from India. Pasting the screenshot below you can follow it

With regards the Chinese soldiers attacking the Indian army in that 20 Indian soldiers where martyred, this is not acceptable to my follow Indian to buy and use a product from the nation who is killing Indian soldiers.

I have also done some Chinese product review on my blog in recent time, and from today here after I won’t be doing single Chinese product review on my website, I promise you that. Also, I will be replacing all my family members phone to something which is not Chinese in recent time.
