What is 5G technology

What exactly is 5G?

5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless technology after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G. 5G has a new kind of network structure that is designed to connect virtually everything together including machinery, objects, and networking devices including mobile, laptops, TV, routers etc.

5G wireless technology is specially designed to deliver higher multi-Gbps data speeds, ultra-low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more robust user experience to more users. Super high performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries all over the world.

What is the difference between 4G and 5G?

The existing generations of mobile networks are 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G.

First generation – 1G
1980s: 1G delivered analog voice.

Second generation – 2G
Early 1990s: 2G introduced digital voice (e.g. CDMA- Code Division Multiple Access).

Third generation – 3G
Early 2000s: 3G brought mobile data (e.g. CDMA2000).

Fourth generation – 4G LTE
2010s: 4G LTE lead in the era of mobile broadband.

1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G all led to 5G, which is invented to provide more connectivity than was ever before.

5G is a unified, more capable air interface. It has been planned with an extended capacity to allow next-generation user experiences, discover new deployment models and deliver new services.

With high speeds, superior reliability and negligible latency, 5G will enhance the mobile ecosystem into new achievements. 5G will impact every industry, making secure transportation, remote healthcare, precision agriculture, digitized logistics — and more — a reality.

Is 5G Available now

PC -Quora

Yes, 5G is already in here today, and global operators started launching new 5G networks in from late 2019. 5G mobile networks are expected to be available nationwide in 2020 already. Also, all major Android phone manufacturers are giving 5G enables with their phones. And soon, even more people may be able to use 5G.

Showing some recent test done below from my favourite tech youtuber MKBHD

5G has been launch in 20+ countries and growing. We are seeing much faster rollout and acquiring compared with 4G. Users are very excited about the high speeds and low latencies. But 5G goes beyond these advantages by also providing the capability for mission-critical services, explore mobile broadband and massive IoT. While it is difficult to predict when everyone will have access to 5G, we are seeing great power of 5G launches in its first year and we expect more countries to launch their 5G mobile networks in 2020 and beyond.

How High Speed is 5G

5G is invited to deliver high speed data rates up to 20 Gbps based on IMT-2020 requirements.

But 5G is about more than just providing the high peak data. 5G can provide much more network capacity by expanding into new spectrum,

5G can also deliver much lower latency for a more immediate response and can provide an overall more unique user experience so that the data rates stay consistently high—even when users are constantly moving around. And the new 5G mobile network is backed up by a Gigabit LTE coverage foundation, which can provide ubiquitous Gigabit-class connectivity.

Sharing the picture below to show how actual fast it is in real time.

Also it has been found that in current testing if user is not near the 5G network tower or there is any kind of obstacle in between user and the high frequency 5G router than the speeds get lower the obstacles can be concrete building,  towers etc.

But where the world’s 5th biggest economy (India) stands ?
Apple haven’t made any model yet to be compatible with 5th even having great supportive infrastructure?

According to my research India will have the 5G by 2021. There are lots of pros and cons for the deploying this but everyone wants the future great even if it has some drawbacks.
About the question on apple 5G soon they will be launching the new IPhone in 2020 that will have 5G enable. Also I have heard that they will be cutting the cost for making 5G enable technology in their phones.
